I Told You So . . . Hate Crimes Legislation . . . Attempts at U.S. Thought Police

.
I told you about the U.S. seeking to put hate crimes legislation at the federal level . . . an ignorant prospect because the "hate" can't cross state lines. More importantly, this legislation is the beginning of the "thought police", very un-American. This amendment creates a class of people that are "more equal than others." The Canadian Human Rights Commission has shown us that thoughts can be criminalized and that the cost of defense alone will paralyze free speech. Why are we going in this direction? The most moronic part . . . the vote was set for 1:00 AM.

IN SUMMARY:
HR 1913: Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009

This bill, previously introduced in Congress in 2007, seeks to expand upon the 1969 US federal hate-crime law by extending beyond federally-protected activities and towards bodily crimes motivated by a victim’s actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability, in addition to the current provisions of bodily crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived race, color, religion, and national origin. It would also codify and expand the funding and investigative capabilities of federal officials for aiding their local counterparts. This bill passed the House.

SB 909: Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act

This legislation seeks to expand upon 1969 U.S. federal hate-crime law by extending its scope towards bodily crimes motivated by a victim’s actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability, in addition to the current provisions of bodily crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived race, color, religion, and national origin. It would also codify and expand the funding and investigative capabilities of federal officials for aiding their local counterparts.

Senator Kennedy also introduced this legislation in the 110th Congress as a bill, which died in committee, and then as an amendment to the Senate Defense Reauthorization bill (HR 1585), which was approved by a voice vote. However, this amendment was ultimately dropped due to opposition from antiwar Democrats, conservative groups, and former President George W. Bush. Contrastingly, President Obama has indicated that he aims to see this version of the bill passed. The companion legislation, HR 1913, passed the House vote in April.

"Hate Bill" Favoritism

If "hate bill"-obsessed Congress can't protect Christians from "gays" as much as it wants to protect "gays" from Christians, will Congress be surprised if it can't protect itself from most everyone? If "hate bills" are forced on captive Americans, they'll still find ways to sneakily continue to "plant" Biblical messages everywhere. By doing so they'll hasten God's judgment on their oppressors as revealed in Proverbs 19:1. (See related web items including "David Letterman's Hate, Etc.," "Separation of Raunch and State," "Michael the Narc-Angel," and "Obama Avoids Bible Verses.") Since Congress can't seem to legislate "morality," it's making up for it by legislating "immorality"!
