I've had a very large response from the last post regarding campaign contributions to judges. Many people want to, also, know whether or not a candidate was unopposed, appointed or challenging an open seat or incumbent. So, I have provided links to each judges' campaign contribution report in the Nevada Eighth Judicial District Court. I've also indicated how this judge initially entered the judiciary & whether, most recently, they were challenged or not. As well, I've indicated open seat contests that were not appointed.
Origin:
Open Seat means that there was a new Department created or a judge retired/resigned and that the judge was challenged in an election to become judge.
Appointed means that a Department was open before the election due a judge retiring/resigning and that judge was appointed by the Governor of Nevada.
Recent Election:
Challenged means that the judge most recently ran in an election/re-election and had at least one challenger.
Unopposed means that the judge most recently ran for election/re-election, but that there were no challengers in the election.
Most notably, I've included the contributions in recent years for each judge, in summary, with a total. I've excluded the contributions that were made 'in kind', though you can review those on each report. Most of you are smart enough to draw your own conclusions with regard to contributions, oppositions, approval ratings & challengers.
I can't remember a few of the seats, I've gotta check & I'll update, later.
