Federal 'Hate Crimes' Bill Inserted Into Defense Bill To Force Passage...Elections Have Consequences

The dishonesty is staggering. I don't want it to be the case . . . I wish politicians were working for us, I wish judges would remove bias from the bench, I wish my senator would be honest in his actions, I wish we as a country could just embrace integrity, character and honesty as valid and viable, instead of win at all costs . . . hurt the other guy to make sure I get ahead. Sad but true.

Well, it looks like the 'Hate Crimes' legislation that I've posted before about is going to be passed by being inserted into the Military Funding Bill. If you vote against 'hate crimes', it will be advertised by your opponent that you "opposed funding the troops", yet if you vote in favor of 'funding the troops', it will be advertised that you are in favor of federal 'hate crimes' that strangle free speech and provide the gay/lesbian community rights that heterosexuals don't even have.

Confused yet?

Yesterday, Byron York wrote a great summary of the disgusting tug-of-war that has been going on in Congress regarding enacting federal legislation for 'hate crimes'. I strongly suggest that you read it.

What does this mean? Well, on the positive side, hopefully it will mean that people that are committing crimes against the gay/lesbian community for their sexual preference will give such action a second thought, as their crimes will now significantly be more serious, indeed. That's it for the positive.

On the negative, sheesh, where do I start: the beginning of thought police, the curtailing of free speech, the beginning of the end of blogging, the preferential protection of GLBT community for their 'sexual preference', whilst heterosexuals, no matter their sexual preference, garner no such protection. What about a girl that sleeps around with multiple men (and maybe one woman)? If she is called a 'slut', do we have an assault? If she is slapped by the wife of one of the husbands that she slept with, does a simple state action, now, turn into a federal felony charge. Yes.

We could go over scenario after scenario here. I just hope and pray that the bill does not provide mandatory sentencing. The last thing we need to do is hamstring the prosecutor and judge. If mandatory sentencing is in the bill, look out. You better not 'hate crime' anyone for their "gender orientation" or "gender identity", whatever the hell that means . . .

Does this include hating my wife or husband (for being a woman or being a man) while we are arguing and I'm sick of her "being so emotional" or I'm sick of him "being so insensitive"? Can I no longer express my hate? My hate is not crossing any state lines. My hate does not involve federal security. My hate in no way involves the federal government . . . Until now. Again, here we have another way the federal government has decided to get involved in an area of our lives that in no way involves them . . . "hate". I hate them for that.
