UNR Corruption Website Created - Rally On Friday!

An update on the previously referenced story regarding the hopeful investigation of University of Nevada/Reno (UNR) and the many, many claims of fraud, corruption, etc. A new website was created as a central source for information regarding the UNR Corruption. www.unrgrandjury.com

There are a lot of allegations, frankly too many for them all to be false. There are a lot of sources relevant to NCAA violations, manufacturing of evidence, police tampering... See HERE for one of the Coaches that broke the story.

The lawsuit filed in the Second Judicial District of Nevada is seeking to have a grand jury investigate the matter. It is currently pending before the Court. There is a rally this Friday in front of the Courthouse. The rally is described as:

What: A peaceful rally in support of summoning a grand jury to investigate claims of corruption at UNR
When: Noon Friday (October 31, 2009)
Where: Second Judicial District Court, 75 Court St., Reno
➤ Event organizers, including grand jury petitioners Terri Patraw, Richard Schweickert and Lane Grow invite all concerned individuals.

The website advises that:

Fraud, embezzlement, bid rigging, animal abuse for profit,
falsification of evidence, falsification of public documents, perjury,
subornation of perjury, abuse of power, forgery, witness intimidation,
civil rights violations, and police department crimes at the University of
Nevada - Reno must be exposed and punished.

Geology Professor Richard Schweickert, Soccer Coach Terri Patraw, and UNRPD
Sergeant Lane Grow have petitioned for a grand jury investigation.

Grand juries do not "just happen".
The system is designed to discourage whistleblowers.
Your support is needed to convince authorities that there is a real problem
that cries for a real solution.

Depending upon how you see it, this rally, and the actions by citizens in Reno, provide fodder for both sides of the argument on judicial elections. On the one hand, the electorate should not be influencing the judge's decision with regard to the actions filed. On the other hand, the electorate should be able to keep the judiciary "honest" through accountability, since the school seems to have gone 'corruption nuts'. One thing is for sure, there needs to be an investigation into why UNLV can't beat UNR in football.

Nevada has a tough question to answer in 2010 on whether to amend the state Constitution and do away with judicial elections. Oh what to do?
