Danielle, I agree, to a certain extent. I also agree with JH, to a certain extent. School should not be a battle ground, though.

"Rent" may be inappropriate for school, I'd agree. However, it is the student version. Maybe what kids need is an understanding of how to be understanding of difficult topics.

The fact is that there are people of different genders, races, cultures, sexual orientation, etc. in our society. We can be tolerant without accepting their way of life into ours. We should be tolerant.

My fear in today's society, though, is that only one group is being asked to be tolerant. Why isn't everyone tolerant of the opposing views. Religious folks are not idiots and homosexuals are not freaks. Truth is we are all a little 'messed up' and that should be where we meet in the middle and find tolerance.

So, chill out!!

1. I am incredibly jealous. I saw "Rent" with the original cast on Broadway and I would have loved to perform a play like this in high school. Sadly, I got stuck with "The Music Man," because I went to catholic school.

2. I fully intend to call the school and ask when they are performing so that I can get tickets. I would not typically go to something like this, but now I will. These people piss me off. Censor your own kids, but not the entire school.
